Green Rides is the first ethical green chalet set in the Alps in the lap of luxury. We offer flexible and week on week holidays locted in the most strategic spot in the Tarantaise valley.At Green Rides we promote our ski safari trip where you can ski three of the best mountains in the French Alps no more than 10 minutes drive from the chalet. You will sample some of the most exciting après ski, eat gourmet food and come back to a fabulous chalet with a boot store, sauna and full savoie bar with views stretching out for 20 kms in either direction.
Chalet history
Chalet Montperron is a classic chalet from the 18th century, First inhabited by Joseph Arpin Montperron (founder), it was originally a cattle farm and store in the lower levels of the building. The Savoie region of the Tarantaise, during the chalets construction, was still a part of Italy and governed by the Duke of Milan, the French fought them back to regain the land for France and settle the frontier on the far side of the St Bernard pass. Because of this hand over of country, plans and history of Montperron can only be viewed in the city of Turin, four hours away behind the Italian Alps. It has taken on several proprietors since, and fell in to the hands of the Wantz’s in 1996, who renovated the building and turned it into a Chambre’s D’hotes.
Since then Green Rides have taken up residence here, turning out supreme holidays in the beautiful setting of Montperron.
The Chalet
Chalet Montperron has all the comings of a luxury chalet located at 1430m above sea level. The views are breathtaking, stretching for 20km in each direction and allow you to feel a real sense of relaxation.
The chalet features 5 large bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms and all but one with a balcony. We boast a boot warmer, ski rack and work shop for all your equipment, a sauna and spa area, large roasting log fire, wi fi, internet point, sky t.v, full savoie bar and large champagne terrace.
