Chalet Montperron history

Chalet Montperron is a classic chalet from the 18th century, First inhabited by Joseph Arpin Montperron (founder), it was originally a cattle farm and store in the lower levels of the building. The Savoie region of the Tarantaise, during the chalets construction, was still a part of Italy and governed by the Duke of Milan, the French fought them back to regain the land for France and settle the frontier on the far side of the St Bernard pass. Because of this hand over of country, plans and history of Montperron can only be viewed in the city of Turin, four hours away behind the Italian Alps.

It has taken on several proprietors since, and fell in to the hands of the Wantz’s in 1996, who renovated the building and turned it into a Chambre’s D’hotes. Since then Green Rides have taken up residence here, turning out supreme holiday breaks in the beautiful setting of Montperron.
